“Hark the herald angels sing!”. Oh dear, I think all this sun has gone to my head. After having a lovely summer picnic with Hoobie yesterday I had a little idea for another tea light holder. I won Jill’s Challenge over on the Docrafts website last week and the lovely Jill sent me the latest Christmas goody bag as my prize. As you can see it was full of lovely goodies…
I had another old jam jar at home which is a good starting point for a tea light holder. I carefully punched 2 holes in the top and covered with strips of Lucy Cromwell velvet ribbon. I took the main image from the Lucy Cromwell decoupage card kit and carefully cut out a fire shape above the fireplace.
I used the X Cut lace punch to make a border around the top of the lid and added some twine and a twine handle to give the holder a more rustic feel. Finally, I added a couple of card elements and a sentiment from the card kit and added gems, a bow and glitter glue for a bit is Christmas sparkle. Once I popped a battery operated tea light in (always use these for safety reasons) the sun started to go down so I could see the holder working to its full extent, giving off a warm Christmassy glow!
I think I will start collecting all my jam jars, I think these would look very pretty dotted around with all the other Christmas decorations.
This is going into the following challenge http://rheddandrosies.blogspot.co.uk/2013/07/anything-goes-11th-challenge.html
Back to soft furnishings for me, have a great day all.
